Capital Region schools ready for asylee children

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) - As the school year is about to begin the New York Attorney General’s Office reminds us that every student in New York has the right to a free public education, and the asylee students in our area shipped up from New York City are included. NEWS10 spoke with two districts in the Capital Region to discuss how they are preparing for the new year with asylum seeker kids in attendance. Gun safety in the home As parents and school officials in the Capital Region prepare to get back into the classroom, children of asylum seekers are also getting ready to start school.  Mohonasen Superintendent, Shannon Shine, says that in the beginning communication with DocGo, the company contracted by NYC to care for the aslyees, was not very good.Shine says the district now communicates regularly with the company and says they now have a better understanding of the needs of the asylum seeker children for their education.“This has kind of been at breakneck speed. Heat wave ends as Cardinals return for home stand

That heat wave has dissipated just in time for the Cardinals’ return to Busch Stadium.Temperatures at first pitch for the Cardinals and the San Diego Padres are expected to be around 80°, which is below normal for late August.After last week’s triple-digit temperatures and excessively high heat indices, fans said they’re excited to feel the cooler air while taking in a ballgame.Thankfully, the entire week looks like tremendous baseball weather, with an expected return to 90° and above for Labor Day weekend.

Country star Zach Bryan will play a Denver show next summer

Country superstar Zach Bryan will play Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High next summer as part of his upcoming Quittin Time Tour, promoters announced Monday.Bryan, 27, is headlining the massive venue for the first time, following in the footsteps of The Eagles, Taylor Swift and, most recently, Ed Sheeran. That English singer-songwriter on Aug. 19 played what is believed to be the biggest concert in Colorado history from Empower Field, drawing 85,233, according to the venue, and edging out Garth Brooks’ record draw of 84,000 from 2019.Bryan’s announcement comes four days after the Aug. 25 release of his new, self-titled album on the Warner label. Tickets for his North American tour — including the June 15, 2024, Denver concert — are on sale to the general public on Sept. 8. Young and wealthy Californians leaving the region for other states, study says

Young and wealthy residents who once called California home have been packing up and moving to other states like Florida and Texas, according to a new study from Smart Asset.The study found that the Golden State, New York and Illinois are among the places that lost the most young professionals — those aged between 26 to 35 and make at least $200,000 a year nationwide.
