AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians will host the Corporate Battle of the Bands tonight within ACL Live at the Moody Theater.This annual event gives professionals a chance to perform in front of a live audience on a historic stage for a good cause.In 2022, the Battle of the Bands raised more than $227,000 and drew in a crowd of more than 1,200 attendees. Police identify person hit, killed by 2 trucks while walking in northeast Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin Police have identified a person who died after being hit by two trucks while walking in northeast Austin in late May. PREVIOUS: Pedestrian killed after crash in northeast Austin According to the Austin Police Department, Brandon Boone, 43, was walking in the roadway in the 7100 block of Johnny Morris Road when he was hit by two pickup trucks. Boone died at the scene. Both drivers remained on the scene, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation, APD said. MAP: Where have Austin’s fatal crashes occurred in 2023? This incident is being investigated as Austin's 41st fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 41 fatalities for the year. Las Vegas man sentenced for sending white powder letters

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Las Vegas man was sentenced on Tuesday to time served for conveying a hoax and false information, as well as sending white powder letters to the New York State Gaming Commission. The Department of Justice (DOJ) says that Brent Carter, 73, will serve three years of supervised release after getting out. The DOJ did not specify the length of Carter's sentence. Carter admitted back in January that between October 2017 and November 2018, he left several voicemails with the New York State Gaming Commission using threatening language and also admitted to mailing four letters containing white powder and other substances to the commission. He further admitted the voicemails and letters were revenge for suspending his license for horse racing.

On Thursday, a section of Murray Street will be closed in order to facilitate part of the Glens Falls Connector Project. The first of two new pedestrian traffic bridges is also set to be installed over the Glens Falls Feeder Canal.During closure hours, no traffic will be allowed through Pruyn Island in either direction, except in cases of police or fire emergencies. ST. LOUIS - A backdoor cold front is moving in for Wednesday. That means it is dropping in from the northeast. It will bring scattered showers through the day and some possible storms in the afternoon west of St. Louis. It won’t be much rain, but we’ll take anything we can get. Temperature highs will be in the low to mid 80s, and warmer the farther west you are.   St. Louis radar: See a map of current weather here It'll be cooler and drier air that will settle on Wednesday night as skies clear. Wake up temps on Thursday will be in the 50s. Really nice weather Thursday and Friday, as highs are expected to be in the low to mid 80s. Ex-Jeff Co. deputy charged with DWI, involuntary manslaughter in crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - A former Jefferson County deputy faces felony charges for DWI and involuntary manslaughter in a deadly crash. Jefferson County prosecutors have charged Colby McCreary in the investigation. He is accused in the death of Savannah McCreary, per court documents. Investigators say the crash happened in the early-morning hours of April 30 on Interstate 55 near Manley Quarry Road. Colby was reportedly driving a Jeep Cherokee and Savannah was a passenger. St. Charles County residents upset over home value assessment According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Colby went off the roadway to the right and struck a road enbankment. The Jeep overturned, and Savannah later died from her injuries at a hospital. Per court documents, toxicology results conducted after the crash indicated that McCreary showed he had a blood alcohol content of .17%.
