After almost four decades, Chicago Tribune Holiday Cookie Contest bakers continue to submit delicious, yet sometimes surprisingly simple recipes that readers turn to year after year.The winners of this year’s 37th annual contest are no different, and they stunned a cadre of guest judges to boot. Rise in RSV cases

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)--- New York State is seeing an increase in RSV---a respiratory virus, that typically resembles the common cold.According to New Your State Department of Health data, RSV started increasing at a faster rate than COVID in late October.Dr. Nosa Aigbe Lebarty of CentralMed Urgent Care said the concern is the number of people getting it."Before it used to be mostly only kids, but now it’s everyone," said Lebarty." Both adults, children, as well as geriatric patients. So everybody—- no one is immune to RSV at all."RSV can turn into pneumonia which could be life threatening for babies, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Man sentenced for May robbery in Saratoga Springs

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Juan Munguia, 34, was sentenced to two to four years incarceration on Monday. Saratoga Springs Police responded to a reported robbery in the area of Lake Avenue and Pavilion Row on May 14. Investigations determined that a suspect had approached the victim from behind and forcibly took property.The suspect then fled on a bike. Pittsfield remembers airman killed in Japan

PITTSFIELD, M.A. (NEWS10) — A local high school football player who joined the military and passed away overseas, is now being remembered and honored by the people of Pittsfield. Old Glory flew half staff at Taconic High School,  just days after 24-year-old Air Force Staff Sgt. Jake Galliher died in an Osprey training mission off the coast of Japan. City, County leaders begin mapping out future of Pine Hills

City and county leaders are now working to figure out the best use for that space. “We can’t let these buildings get mothballed," County Executive Dan McCoy said. O'Fallon clock tower shooter identified after fatal shoot-out

O'FALLON, Mo. - Police shot and killed a suspect after shots were fired just outside O'Fallon City Hall. He is identified as 34-year-old Douglas Alan Phipps.Phipps is accused of firing shots at the clock tower just feet from O'Fallon City Hall Sunday afternoon. There is damage to three of the four sides of the clock.A resident who lives near City Hall told FOX 2 that they heard the gunshots. Police said that they don't know why the individual was firing shots at the clock tower. Suspect shot and killed after firing shots outside O’Fallon City Hall Police were able to get a description of the vehicle that authorities shared that the suspect was driving. O'Fallon officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit started. Man admits shooting women, one fatally, during carjackings

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man appeared in federal court on Monday and admitted to a pair of carjackings in the summer of 2022, one of which was fatal.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Loyse Dozier, 21, committed the crimes over a three-week period in July and August 2022.The first carjacking took place on July 10 at the Raqqa Mart, located in the 300 block of Chambers Road in Riverview.The victim, Laruth Jones, was standing near the store entrance when she saw Dozier, who was wearing a full-face mask, enter her Mercedes CLA 250. Jones, who was armed, went out to confront Dozier.Dozier and Jones exchanged gunfire, and Jones was killed. Dozier took Jones' firearm and fled in the stolen Mercedes. The vehicle was later found torched in a St. Louis alley.
