Steinway & Sons describes its Model D as the pinnacle of concert grand pianos, and anyone who has watched a master pianist command an audience for a solo performance in a packed concert hall has probably seen one in action. Walker West Music Academy and Twin Cities-based Schmitt Music have teamed to bring four Steinway Model D concert pianos to Walker West’s Selby Avenue performance space.The St. Paul music academy will host a ribbon-cutting for its first Steinway Model Ds from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, marking the first time in the school’s 34-year history that it will offer brand-new pianos for instruction and performance. CLAVERACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, two people died around 7:05 Tuesday night in a motor vehicle crash. Deputies say the crash happened on State Route 66 just north of County Route 18 (Fish and Game Club Road) in Claverack. Russia's envoy to the United Nations in Geneva said there were no grounds to maintain the "status quo" of the Black Sea grain deal that is set to expire on July 18, the Russian news outlet Izvestia reported on Monday (3 July).In a wide-ranging interview, envoy Gennady Gatilov told the outlet that the implementation of Russia's conditions for the extensions of the agreement was "stalling." (CNN) — Residents of 12 states in the South and Midwest are more likely to smoke – and to smoke more – than people living in the rest of the United States, according to a new report.Truth Initiative, a nonprofit focused on ending tobacco use, has dubbed that group of states “Tobacco Nation,” a region that spans Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia.This group of states is home to about 21% of the US population but 28% of smokers in the country.Overall, smoking prevalence is about 50% higher there than in the rest of the US. About 19% of adults smoke in this group of states, compared with about 13% of adults in other states.A similar pattern holds among young adults. About 11% of adults under 25 in these states smoke, compared with less than 8% in other states.
