(KRON) -- In the Bay Area, 10 people have been arrested for mail theft and violence against mail carriers, prosecutors announced Tuesday. Now, federal investigators are tripling a reward to help catch more criminals behind these acts.Federal investigators said attacks on postal workers are growing and thieves are taking off with packages and keys to entire apartment buildings. A $150,000 reward is now being offered for tips leading to arrests and convictions."These keys are now the keys to prison if you are found with these. It's simply not worth it," said U.S. Northern District Attorney Ismail J. 12-year-old San Mateo boy arrested for attempted murder after stabbing

(KRON) -- A 12-year-old San Mateo boy was arrested in connection with a stabbing at a local park on Monday night, the San Mateo Police Department said. SMPD received a call Monday night that someone had been stabbed at Central Park, located at 50 East 5th Ave. The victim had a stab wound on the left side of his body. Woman arrested after climbing in window, burglarizing apartment in San Mateo The victim was hospitalized. Police did not reveal his age or his current condition. An SMPD investigation revealed that the victim was known by the person who stabbed him, and the 12-year-old suspect was identified. Police said he left the park on a bicycle. He was found on the 800 block of North Humboldt Street and arrested at 8:21 p.m. SMPD said he will be held in the Hillcrest Juvenile Hall and charged with attempted murder. Police are investigating the stabbing and requesting surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to call SMPD at (650) 522-7700.

The athletic program he took over at Tulane in 2015 was thriving, especially a football program still basking in what was accomplished last season.But when the job as athletic director at Washington came open in August and Dannen became identified in the search process, the thought of making a career-defining move entered his mind.“I then I went through six weeks of nerves about whether I could actually get the job or not,” Dannen said Tuesday.Dannen did get the job, taking over at Washington at a time with major changes on the horizon for the university. Execution of Texas inmate set to proceed after Supreme Court grants request to overturn stay

HOUSTON (AP) — The execution of a Texas inmate condemned for fatally shooting an 80-year-old woman more than two decades ago was set to proceed Tuesday evening after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court’s stay.Jedidiah Murphy, 48, was sentenced to death for the October 2000 killing of Bertie Lee Cunningham during a carjacking.A scheduled lethal injection had been put on hold after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday upheld a federal judge’s order from last week delaying the execution over questions about the evidence used to sentence him to death.But the U.S. Supreme Court early Tuesday evening granted an appeal from the state attorney general’s office asking to overturn the stay and allow the execution to proceed at the state penitentiary in Huntsville.
