What a long, strange trip it’s been. Well, it’s accurate at least for describing the last 12 months of Colorado’s always-eventful soccer scene.From having a pair of Coloradans boss a Women’s World Cup game, to a Colorado Rapids player (for now) making international news of a different kind, soccer in Colorado undoubtedly had its up and down moments. Two killed, four wounded in three Denver shootings

Two people died and four people were injured overnight Friday into Saturday in three Denver shootings.All three incidents were reported within a couple of hours of each other early Saturday .The first happened in the 4800 block of West Colfax Avenue, Denver police reported about 1:55 a.m. on X.Police later reported two men died in this shooting and two other men were injured but expected to survive. Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.Police reported the second shooting about 20 minutes later near 17th and California streets. Bodycam video released of fatal deputy-involved shooting of L.A. County mother

Newly released bodycam footage depicts the moment a woman armed with a kitchen knife was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy. The video, which was made public by the department on Friday, shows deputies responding to an apartment building in the 2100 block of East Avenue J-8 in Lancaster on Dec. 4 regarding a domestic violence call. Included with the footage is the audio of the initial call made by Niani Finlayson, 27, to police requesting their help for a man who “[would not] get out of her house.”  Gypsy Rose Blanchard posts ‘first selfie of freedom’ after release from prison Finlayson could be heard over the phone screaming and struggling with the man, later identified as her boyfriend. “This man, he won’t get out of my house now...and I already told him to get out of my house...” she told the dispatcher before another struggle ensued. “I need the police here right now [because] he won’t get his hands off me.” Niani Finl...

Family of unidentified L.A. County patient located

A Los Angeles County hospital located the family of a patient who had been hospitalized for more than 10 days and speaks an unknown language.The patient had been at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood after he was found Dec. 17 on the 7600 block of Otis Avenue in Cudahy."I appreciate your sharing the information for us," the hospital said on Dec. 29. "We are glad to have reunited our patient with his family."St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood is asking for the public's help to identify a hospitalized man who speaks an undetermined language. He was apparently unable to communicate his name or any other information that would assist hospital staff with identifying him.No further details surrounding his case or the discovery of his loved ones were released.

Big waves, high surf and beach warnings dissipate as sunny skies beckon in the New Year

Powerful waves once again thrashed the Northern California coastline Saturday, but to a much lesser extent than seen earlier in the week with high surf and coastal flood warnings getting downgraded by weather officials in the early afternoon.Santa Cruz County beaches were expected to see the biggest waves — potentially as high as 40 feet at some spots — but the swell wasn’t as intense as the storm surge that slammed the area earlier this week, damaging some oceanfront businesses. On Saturday, county officials said that an assessment of the overnight wave impacts on the coast appeared “minimal,” though, they did discover “significant sand loss on beaches.”High swells that were expected overnight didn’t end up materializing in the seaside village of Capitola, which was hit hard on Thursday, according to Capitola Public Works Director Jessica Kahn. High Surf Advisory issued, NWS

(KRON) – The High Surf Warning has been downgraded to a High Surf Advisory, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory will last until 10 p.m. on Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, wave heights are on the decline, but conditions remain hazardous with breaking waves of expected 16-20 feet. Wave heights are expected to gradually diminish.The NWS forecasts a very high swell from the west and northwest that will create hazardous beach conditions. Sherrod scores a career-high 34 points to lead No. 8 Colorado past No. 12 Utah 76-65
