A Boston police officer shot two dogs, killing one and injuring the other after the animals attacked another officer on Wednesday, according to authorities.The Boston Police Department said the officers were at a property on Michigan Avenue to arrest a person known to have multiple arrest warrants. Police said the two dogs attacked an officer after police placed the suspect in custody, leading to a second officer firing their weapon.Authorities told 7NEWS that both officers were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.Michigan Avenue remained closed to traffic around 4 p.m. as police detectives continued to arrive and survey the scene.Neighbors, meanwhile, described the incident earlier in the day Wednesday.“I’m watching this whole thing happen – blood everywhere, everything, it was just crazy” one resident told 7NEWS, who described two to three shots being fired.Boston police officials said an investigation into the matter is ongoing.Thi...

MBTA Plans To Lift Blue Line Slow Zones By November

The MBTA hopes to restore the entire Blue Line to full-speed operation by November, and officials will end service early on several nights in the next month to accelerate necessary repairs, new T boss Phil Eng said Wednesday.A bit more than a week into his tenure as general manager, Eng offered an early sketch of the work required to lift slow zones on one of the four subway lines that have been hamstrung by limited speeds due to newly confirmed infrastructure flaws. Plans to fix the problems on the other three lines are still in development.Eng said the T is aiming to lift all remaining Blue Line speed restrictions “no later than November,” which would be eight months after MBTA officials suddenly expanded slow zones across the system.Eng told the T’s Board of Directors that crews in the short term will aim to replace 1,950 feet of rail and 465 rail ties, plus tamp 3,300 feet of track, between Bowdoin and Aquarium stations. The Premier Hockey Federation announced that Boston Pride’s Corinne Schroeder has been selected as the PHF Goaltender of the Year for the 2022-23 regular season.The award was determined by PHF hockey operations in consultation with all team presidents and general managers. Schroeder set  PHF single-season records for Boston, including 19 wins, seven shutouts that shattered the previous mark of three, and 761 total saves.Her overall record of 19-1-1 was compiled over a franchise-record 22 starts and helped the Pride finish in first place in the league’s regular season standings. She became just the third goaltender in PHF history to blank the opposition in her first start and continued her impressive debut with a record three straight shutouts to launch her professional career.

A Boston-based civil rights group is calling for an independent investigation into “racial profiling” at the Boston Marathon after a predominantly Black running group was blocked by police officers at their cheering spot in Newton.On Monday, cops with bicycles lined up at Pioneers Run Crew’s tent along Heartbreak Hill at Mile 21. This restricted the group’s cheering access to the road and their ability to give out high fives to runners. Police officers also took positions behind the group’s tent.The police officers did this after the Boston Athletic Association had alerted Newton Police three times about spectators crossing the rope barrier and impeding runners. A major X-Files convention, featuring a lineup of supporting cast members and producers from the cult-favorite sci-fi franchise, is coming to the Mall of America this fall.The convention, named PhileFest, will take place Sept. 8–10, to mark the 30th anniversary of “The X-Files.” The series originally ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002 and returned for two additional seasons in 2016 and 2018.“The X-Files” creator Chris Carter and other producers will be in attendance, along with a sizable roster of actors.
