MADISON, Ill. (AP) — IndyCar ironman Scott Dixon capitalized on needing to make only three pit stops and kept his championship hopes alive in winning Sunday’s Bommarito 500.The victory was the 55th of Dixon’s career and it came in his record-extending 320th consecutive start. He set the record last week.Dixon had held the lead for 82 laps before making his final pit stop on lap 196. With all of the cars on the lead lap having to pit after he made his final stop, the 43-year-old took the checkered flag, finishing more than 22 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Pato O’Ward.Josef Newgarden started in the top spot with pole-sitter Scott McLaughlin serving a nine-position grid penalty, and led 101 of the first 104 laps.However, his quest to become the first IndyCar driver to win six consecutive races on ovals since A.J. World Wrestling Entertainment star Bray Wyatt died Thursday, WWE announced. He was 36.Wyatt, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, died “unexpectedly,” according to an article on the WWE website that did not mention a cause of death.“WWE is saddened to learn that Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, at age 36,” WWE said. “WWE extends its condolences to Rotunda’s family, friends and fans.”Wyatt, the 2017 WWE champion, was also known as “The Fiend.” His last televised performance came at the 2023 Royal Rumble.“Known for his captivating performances and incredible in-ring presence, Wyatt was a defining superstar of his generation,” WWE said.Wyatt was the son of Mike and Stephanie Rotunda.Wyatt’s grandfather Robert Deroy Windham (Blackjack Mulligan), father, and two of his uncles (Barry and Kendall Windham) all wrestled in WWE. Search on for male, female hit-and-run suspects who fled deadly crash in Jefferson Park neighborhood

Police are searching for two suspects involved in a hit-and-run crash that left one person dead and another hospitalized in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Sunday morning. The crash was reported around 1 a.m. at the intersection of West Adams Boulevard and Arlington Avenue, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cervantes confirmed. The suspects were in a car headed eastbound on Adams Boulevard when they collided with a vehicle traveling southbound on Arlington Avenue, Cervantes said.The driver of the southbound vehicle, described as a Hispanic male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. A passenger in the same vehicle, described as a Hispanic female, was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. A male and a female are believed to have exited the suspect vehicle and fled the scene after the crash.

Nordstrom in downtown SF officially closes after more than 30 years on Market Street

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- After more than three decades as a staple retailer in downtown San Francisco, Nordstrom is closing its doors for good. Sunday is the last day customers can shop at the location inside Westfield Mall.That Nordstrom location has been open since 1988 and will be closed for good by 5 p.m. Sunday. The store has four floors and spans over 30,000 square feet. NEW YORK (AP) — Kei Nishikori, the 2014 U.S. Open runner-up, withdrew from the year’s last Grand Slam tournament on Sunday after being sidelined all month with an injured left knee.Nishikori was replaced in the men’s singles draw at Flushing Meadows by James Duckworth, who lost in qualifying. Duckworth will face Felipe Meligeni Alves on Tuesday in the first round of the U.S. Open. The tournament begins Monday.Nishikori is a 33-year-old from Japan who had an operation on his hip in January 2022. He returned to the ATP Tour in late July at Atlanta, where he won two matches to reach the quarterfinals before losing to Taylor Fritz.
