LAPD seeks man who took wallet from woman after she was knocked unconscious in South L.A.

The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested the person they say knocked out an 86-year-old woman, but they're looking for another person who was apparently not involved in the attack but who stole the woman's wallet while she laid unconscious on the ground.The Aug. 8 attack at about 2:40 p.m. in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood of South Los Angeles sent the woman to a local hospital in critical condition, and police arrested a suspect in the battery that day, the LAPD said in a news release.Surveillance video from Metro bus No. 1957 on Line 204 showed multiple people standing around the incapacitated woman, including one man in a New York Yankees jacket, a dark beanie, dark pants and gray shoes. Unprecedented tropical storm watch issued for Southern California as Hilary approaches

For the first time in history, a tropical storm watch has been issued for portions of Southern California as Hurricane Hilary moves northward from the Pacific coast of Mexico.The Tropical Storm Watch went into effect Friday morning and impacts areas of San Diego, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. A full list of specific areas for each county can be found here. Storm advisories on Aug. 18, 2023, as Hurricane Hilary approaches Southern California. What is a Tropical Storm Watch?The National Weather Service says a Tropical Storm Watch means tropical-storm-force winds are possible somewhere within this area within the next 48 hours. To put that in perspective, peak winds from Hilary could reach 30-40 mph with gusts to 55 mph after making landfall. Disneyland fans will soon be able to dine at Tiana’s Palace, the restaurant from “The Princess and the Frog” movie, which will open at the theme park on Sept. 7.Theme park officials announced in January that The French Market restaurant and Mint Julep bar would be reimagined into the new restaurant. 62-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Red-Light Collision near Aliante ParkwayLAS VEGAS, NV (August 18, 2023) – Monday morning, Toni De Vera was killed in a 2-car accident on Interstate 215.Police responded to the scene around 4:50 a.m., near North Aliante Parkway.Investigators say the driver of a blue Acura SUV failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. As a result, the SUV struck the right side of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup-truck.Medics arrived and transported both drivers to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. 56-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Thomas RoadPHOENIX, AZ (August 18, 2023) – Late Sunday evening, Larry Wheet was killed and James Carter was arrested after a DUI collision on 75th Avenue.Authorities responded to the scene just after 10:00 p.m., near Thomas Road on August 13th.Per reports, 40-year-old Carter was driving east when he struck Wheet who was crossing mid-block. SAN JOSE — A 43-year-old staff member at Valley Christian School in San Jose was arrested on Thursday after he paid students for sexually explicit photos and videos, according to police.Police said in a news release Friday that Todd Baldwin, a Morgan Hill resident, was accused of possessing explicit digital media of minors on Wednesday.
