Putin to grant citizenship to foreigners fighting for Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed a decree allowing foreigners who fought with the Russian army during its war on Ukraine to apply for citizenship, providing they can demonstrate they signed up for a minimum of one year. According to the decree, which has been published on the Russian government’s website, the spouses, children and parents of foreigners serving in the Russian army will also be able to receive fast-track citizenship. Putin’s offer could now create incentives for foreigners with military experience to apply to join Russian ranks.The total number of foreigners fighting on Russia’s side during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine is not known. PERRY, Iowa (AP) — Police in Perry, Iowa, say multiple people were injured in a shooting at the city’s high school, on students’ first day back in classes after their annual winter break.An active shooter was reported at Perry High School at 7:37 a.m. Thursday morning and officers arrived seven minutes later, according to Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante. PERRY, Iowa -- Multiple people were shot Thursday morning at Perry High School according to Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante.Law enforcement was notified about an active shooter at the school at 7:37 a.m. When emergency responders arrived on the scene they found multiple gunshot victims.At a news conference shortly after 10:00 a.m., Sheriff Infante said it's unclear how many victims were shot and the extent of their injuries at this time, but the threat is over and there is no danger to the public. Rogers says cell phone prices are going up for customers not on contracts

TORONTO — Some cell phone customers with Rogers Communications Inc. will pay more for their plans starting later this month.The company says price hikes for customers who are not locked into a contract will range from under $7 on the low end to upwards of $9 per month, depending on their individual plan. Mexico’s president clarifies that 32 abducted migrants were freed, not rescued

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Migrants from several countries abducted from a bus and held by armed men for days near Mexico’s border with Texas were released by their captors, not rescued as initially reported by authorities, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Thursday.“They decided to let them go,” López Obrador said during his morning press briefing.
