HOUSTON (AP) — It’s been two months, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are still thinking about their lopsided defeat in the first meeting with the Houston Texans this season as they prepare to play them again Sunday.“As magnified as it gets. There’s a lot on the line,” Jacksonville receiver Christian Kirk said. “We all remember what happened when we played them early in the year. … They’re going to be ready to play, too. Just got to get ready to match their energy and execute.”The Texans (6-4) won that game 37-17 for their first victory of the season, and a win Sunday would move them past the Jaguars (7-3) and into first place in the AFC South.“They kicked our butt last time,” Jacksonville receiver Calvin Ridley said. “We owe them. Divisional game. We need to go in there and be the big brother that day.”It’s been rare for the Jaguars to play the big brother role in this series for more than a decade, with the Texans winning 10 of the last 11 and 21 of the last 26 games. The Texans certai...The 49ers set their sights on a rematch with the Eagles following a win over the Seahawks

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers took little time to establish that they are the dominant team in the NFC West. Now after a convincing 31-13 win at Seattle on Thursday night that gave the 49ers a stranglehold on the division race, they can start turning their focus to next week’s long-awaited rematch at Philadelphia with a chance to close in on the top seed in the NFC.“We’re going to enjoy this one,” quarterback Brock Purdy said after the game. “We’re going to take the next couple days to recover, clear our minds, whatnot. We’re taking our time and going to enjoy this one.”The Niners (8-3) allowed one first down in the first 29 minutes, led by 21 points at halftime, and were in control the entire way as they beat the Seahawks for the fourth straight time — including a playoff win — after losin...Man arrested in migrant encampment attack that left 1 dead

A South Florida church was hit by vandals days before Thanksgiving, but carried on and continued to do what matters most. Less fortunate residents of the Oakland Park community rely on church, so they’ve put matters aside, at least for a moment, to make sure everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.“No, no one has returned Jesus yet, but we’re still hopeful,” Father Bob Caudill said.A flock without its sheppard carried on with their mission to feed the hungry on Thanksgiving. “It was packed at mass this morning at 9 o’clock,” Caudill said. “As soon as the mass ended, they were in line.”The congregation at All Saints Mission Church in Oakland Park served up meals despite being hit hard earlier in the week. On Wednesday, a figurine of Jesus Christ was ripped from a crucifix that stands at the doors of the place of worship.“I think it’s someone either they’re upset with me or they just wanted it, like it for a collection ...Weekend Chill

Today was a bit cooler than Thanksgiving was, but it’s about to get even colder for the weekend! The breeze that picked up late this afternoon and evening is the leading edge of real cold air on the way for Saturday. Temperatures will fall to near 20° tonight but the breeze won’t totally shut off, so we’ll have wind chills overnight and into the early morning hours tomorrow in the teens. We may hold onto the breeze until about 9am but after that the wind will die off. So the day as a whole is much less windier than today was. If you’re going tree shopping, just dress warm and it will be a nice day. We’ll have a ton of sunshine tomorrow and overall not much wind making temperatures in the 30s manageable. Sunday will be a bit warmer, and we’ll increase the clouds through the day. But will stay dry until late in the evening, more so overnight into Monday. If you’re travelling, we’re watching a storm system moving across the country that may...How a new book uncovers the lost history of World War II US troop newspapers

They gave their newspapers names like the Snarkyville Gazette, Bull Sheet, Scars and Gripes, and the Sunday Mud and Mildew.Their stories clackety-clacked out of battle-scarred typewriters in war zones around the world to be published on beat-up mimeograph machines. And yes, enemy bombing raids sometimes delayed publication and ingenuity was often required to keep the presses running. Insect repellent mixed with black shoe polish might take the place of ink. When newsprint ran out, the blank backs of company memos and motor pool invoices filled in nicely.“It just shows you how precious freedom of the press really is,” says Molly Guptill Manning, author of “The War of Words: How America’s GI Journalists battled Censorship and Propaganda to Help Win World War II.”“They valued it so much they would do just about anything to make sure their newspapers got out,” she says.A photographer for a troop newspaper in the Pacific in World War II goes back to work after being injured and having his...How to experience Europe’s Northern Lights by rail
