Person fatally stabbed in Hermosa Beach apartment complex

One person is dead and another has been hospitalized after a stabbing in a Hermosa Beach apartment complex Monday night, authorities confirmed to KTLA. First responders with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received calls about the incident inside the Gallery of Playa Pacifica Apartment complex, in the 400 block of 2nd Street, at around 6:15 p.m., fire officials confirmed to KTLA.  Authorities with the Hermosa Beach Police Department responded to the location and located an adult male suffering several apparent stab wounds. "The victim's injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene," police said. The stabbing, according to police, occurred at an apartment where several people were home at the time the incident unfolded. Safety improvements on PCH in Malibu announced

Officials in Malibu are making safety the priority for drivers on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, announcing planned improvements to the 21-mile stretch of the roadway.  The safety upgrades come after dozens of speed-related deaths, including four Pepperdine students tragically killed in October.  California Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin, who was joined by other state and local leaders Monday, toured the dangerous stretch of PCH, known to many as “dead man’s curve,” where the four female students lost their lives.  “Ever since that crash, it hasn’t left my mind,” he said Monday.  According to Omishakin, safety improvements on PCH in Malibu is his top priority in the state.  Some 30 planned improvements were announced, along with a $4.2 million Caltrans contract that was approved late last week.  “Some of the speed limit signs are a little far away from the roadway and you can’t see them too visibly,” the transportation secretary said. “So, we...

Carlsbad homes targeted in recent burglaries

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Carlsbad police are investigating at least five residential burglaries in December that all appear to have similar styles. Police say thieves are gaining access to homes through the back of homes by breaking glass windows or doors.
