When is Austin's Trail of Lights free to attend?

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 59th annual Austin Trail of Lights holiday display returned to Zilker Park Friday evening, with the yearly tradition open to visitors most days through Dec. 23. But in addition to general and premium admission tickets, the Trail of Lights Foundation has a handful of free evenings in store.Dec. 12-15 and Dec. 19 are free admission evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. Paid premium admission tickets are still available those evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. Those looking to take advantage of the free, general access those nights don't need to register before attending. After 20 years, the founder of Frogtown’s HmongTown Marketplace on Como Avenue is looking forward to a major expansion. The bustling indoor and outdoor marketplace is home to 125 Southeast Asian vendors, and Toua Xiong believes he’s found the right location to situate dozens more: the former Sears department store at the Maplewood Mall.His vision calls for a ground-level grocery store spanning some 50,000 to 60,000 square feet, as well as smaller vendors on the second floor in what had been Sears aisles. Temple Israel suspect faces additional firearm charge

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The man arrested in connection to the shots fired incident outside of Temple Israel on December 7 is facing another firearms crime. Mufid Fawaz Alkhader, 28, of Schenectady, was charged with conspiracy to make a false statement during the purchase of a firearm. Alkhader reportedly obtained the firearm about a month ago by having a friend purchase it for him. At the time, he believed he was ineligible to purchase the gun himself due to an order of protection or restraining order.The friend purchased the gun from a licensed firearm dealer in Albany County for $599.99. They lied on the ATF Form 4473 by checking the box that states they were buying the firearm for themselves. Trash deal upsets some Wildwood residents

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. -- Some residents in the City of Wildwood are up in arms over a new trash pick-up deal negotiated by city hall. They say their trash bills are higher and they're not getting as good a service. Many didn’t like the process of picking the new companies.Resident Kevin Dillard says there is a lot not to like about this deal: "If you look at the timeline for the process, it was bungled so badly. It’s like government by Barney Fife except Barney Fife is likeable.”When the process started, the only company to bid on the deal ran into problems. The city demanded that there be penalties in the contract that would require the company to pay up if they missed pickups for example.That could prove really expensive for the company. That bidder wouldn’t agree to that deal, so the bid was rejected as unresponsive. In celebration of the 135th Rose Parade, Pasadena Humane is waiving all adoption fees for dogs that weigh more than 40 pounds.The "Roses and Wet Noses" promotion is sponsored by the Pet Care Foundation and will run between Dec. 15 through the end of the year.The promotion aims to highlight the many large dogs that reside at Pasadena Humane, which the organization says make up the majority of its dog population.In addition to a new forever companion, adopters will also receive a gift bag with treats and other items for their newest family member.“With the holidays upon us, it is a wonderful time to give a shelter dog a forever home,” said Pasadena Humane CEO Dia DuVernet. “We hope that all our large dogs are able to watch the Rose Parade from the comfort of their newly adopted homes.” All adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on their latest vaccines.
